Vice Chair

I have been a resident of Kirk Smeaton for over 30 years.  I retired from full time employment in 2016 which now gives me more time to spend working for our local community.  I was co-opted as a councillor onto Kirk Smeaton Parish Council on 20 May 2018.  I am a school governor at a local primary school.  I am a keen gardener and an allotment holder and also enjoy taking part in any local community activities.  I am committed to maintaining and enhancing the character of our village and will be working hard alongside my fellow councillors to achieve that end.

Carl Vitty

Councillor

I have lived in Kirk Smeaton for nearly 12 years and joined the Parish Council in March 2021.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoy living in Kirk Smeaton and over the years we have been made to feel so welcome and as such I am keen to give something back to the village.  I have joined the Parish Council because I want to support the village residents and work with the other councillors to help build on the great work already carried out.

I am a huge rugby fan and also have interests in travel, motor sport, ‘trying’ to cook and I have recently turned my hand to gardening, I am however very much a beginner!

Barney Byfield

Councillor

I have lived in Kirk Smeaton since 1999 with my wife, Sarah, and raised our family here.

We are blessed to be part of such a friendly and caring community, with beautiful scenery and Brockadale on our doorstep plus a thriving Post Office and pub. There is a wonderful community feel which I believe is unique to this special village.

I became a Counsillor in May 2021, because I want to support and give back to the community, and preserve our beautiful village, working with excellent colleagues. I aim to translate my experience of running businesses to helping to get important things done that the community are asking for, working as a team.

My interests are trying to stay a little fit in my lycra, trying to grow edible things at the village allotments before the caterpillars eat them, and trying to cook recipes in the time they claim to be made.

Councillor

I have lived in the village of Kirk Smeaton for over 5 years, how time flies. I was co-opted onto the Parish Council in December 2020 and am dedicated to enhancing the village through good projects that benefit all of the residents. I am married for over 18 years and have a daughter who attended the local primary school. I enjoy Swimming in the local lake, obviously in the summer, and I am a keen traveller taking in many countries all over the world.
